Dear Father

Well dare I say it it has been 5 days since I have seen a deamon, chaos cultist, chaos amulet, arcane jewellery of non de-script chaotic function or a single Beastman. Ha ha I’m loving it! Just to let you know my exchange program with the 14th Middenheim Cavalry is finished but I shan’t be returning home just yet. I believe I will travel the empire with this rag tag band that have been following me around, it would be a good chance to broaden my horizons, see the sights. I still retain my rank in the cavalry but I have lost my unit, probably not much of a big deal since I have barely seen them for the past six months but it is still a sobering thought.

I’m to report to my Colonel of my activities in which I encounter any enemies of the Empire, quite a long list as of late and dare I say I’ll be handing one of those daily at the rate we’ve been going recently!

I’m writing this to you at a town called Delberz, not a bad spot, especially not for Middenland. I believe I’ll chase myself down some local girls the next day or two, I need the rest, and practice ha ha!

Yours Sincerely,

Lieutenant Nigel Von Lancaster, 14th Middenheim Cavalry

Dear Father

After a rather rowdy night at the Charred Mare and some ridiculus allergations by we spent the day searching for leads on a renegade pirate by the name of Sigmund Sirehart, he has a 1000 silver bounty on him and I say I could do with the gold! After discovering very little we made our way to a nearby town called Hemperbrook which wasn’t a bad place, a little shabby however but all an all a serviceable port. Dorf and Tyrel met up with some old acquaintances of theirs which

1. Gave us a serviceable little riverboat to aid us in our adventure, although it’s not ready yet
2. Sent us out to the bloody forest to a bunch of slack jawed yocals to retrieve some bloody antidote.

We reached our destination in the forest to meet up with the apothecary and we found the poor wench naked, dead and buried in her backyard. The assailant had a jolly time beating the stuffing out of her too by the look of the wounds to her face, all wounds were blunt trauma most likely caused by the assailants fists. She had a series of defensive wounds on her arms as well, probably did her best but to no avail, I say that’s how things are with hillbillies. Tyrel, who has become rather medically minded as of late, said she’d be dead three days. Plenty of time for the murderer to escape, unless they are a local in which they might be nearby and deny involvement. Theo, helpful as always, was just excited to see a naked woman, even if she was three days dead, bloody deviant.

I asked Dorf and Tyrel about there history with one of their acquaintances we met in Hemperbrook. Turns out the two of them saved his little sister some time ago in Altdorf, what’s even more surprising is that Pierce helped! He helped save a teenage girl form a dungeon, Ha! That girl was lucky Pierce alone wasn’t her sole rescuer, he would have raped her and kept her as his bloody sex slave. I’m thank Myrmidia we silenced that evil man for good back in Middenheim, the fact that his kind exists in the Empire burns into my very soul. I am worried about Theo though, he is showing very similar patterns to Pierce and I especially don’t like the way he’s eyeing off this dead woman. Maybe he’s joking? Maybe not. Perhaps it’s time Theo “died heroically” as well. I doubt anyone would miss him anyway…

Yours Sincerly,

Lieutenant Nigel Von Lancaster, 14th Middenheim Cavalry

Dear Father

Yesterday we invaded the home of a country family, bashed their father and threatened their mother and children. We were on the case of the apothecary murderer whom also killed the charcoal burner hours after we last saw him. We traced our suspect to the Kirschemann household and that’s where it all went wrong. Theo is out of control, he needs to be hung, he’s just as bad as Pierce. I stormed out of the cabin and turned myself into the authorities, the wardens will arrest the rest of the group and put us on trial. I pray to Myrmidia that Dorf has found enough evidence to clear our names because I know I can’t count on Theo, if I’m lucky the wardens will kill him otherwise I’ll have to do it myself…

Yours Sincerely

Lieutenant Nigel Von Lancaster, 14th Middenheim Cavalry

Dear Father

Tyrel the wizard died of yellow fever and Theo and Dorf are on the run as wanted criminals. It was the warden’s fault Tyrel died, they shouldn’t have treated him that way due to the nature of his wounds even if he was a suspected murderer no-one deserves treatment like that.

Tyrel and myself were put on trial by the county, we were cleared of murder but Tyrel was convicted of breaking and entering and they sent him to jail. He may have survived his injuries if the wardens hadn’t mistreated him during his capture, his wounds became infected and his fever got worse and worse. He didn’t make it past the fifth day in confinement, even after they showed mercy and sent him to the Shallyans. I’ve had enough of the law, of duty.

Over the past weeks I’ve held up to my creed and look what’s happened. I’ve been lied to, framed, attacked and cheated on, all from the very people I am in duty to serve. As soon as I stepped out of the army and into the real world look what happens, chaos, tyranny, evil at every corner. Everyone is out to get everyone else, every man for himself, no comradery, no honour and no bravery, is this what it’s like for the comman man, the every man Marienburger we employ in our warehouses? The soldier we send out to die? The watchmen who works hard only to find a knife in back and his guts in his hands as the criminal filth make away with his daughters?! How dare you prevent me from seeing the old world as it is, how dare you enforce this fantasy and honour and chivalry father! These fairy tale notions have no place in modern society.

From now on Nigel Von Lancaster looks out for himself, when I return to the army maybe I will adhere to the code. Maybe I’ll return to being a gentleman but not when I’m out here, not with the comman masses, the government, the people and the country is corrupt and I expect Marienburg is not much different. Oh I am still a patriot, I’m still a warrior and woe betide any enemy of the Empire who crosses my spear but it’s time I think for myself.

Your’s Sincerly

Dear Father

Well I have quite the resumé now! Deamon hunting, chaos extermination, cavalryman, guard, watchmen and now subterfuge, I say I’ll be employable by the entire Rogue’s gallery of Marienburg. Were to infiltrate this ball disguised as nobles and servants and steal a necklace, I’m going as a noble of course with Johann. Better than stuck with that Forrester guy, bit of a no hoper in my opinion. I’m writing this to you in the carriage on the way to the ball, I’ll get the driver to post it for me.

We’ve met our contact, a foxy minx by the name of Furhmann, the men seem to ogle at her when she passes by, must be more to her than her looks though…

Yours Sincerly

Dear Father

Not sure how we did it but we did it, mission successful. Apparently Forrester killed some poor chap in the process, rather unnecessary but we still managed to achieve our goals. The merchants ball was a hoot although I did run into Calemdor of house Nalwé, gave him some spiel about branching out into trading, I doubt he believed me but it was sufficient enough for him to leave me alone. Levi was the one who got the necklace, good chap that one, he put a fake mustache and monocle on and I didn’t even recognize him!

After the ball we got a lead from one of Johann’s contacts and bagged ourselves a pirate. At the moment where sailing to a town called Esterstien to confront the rest of the villanous band, it’ll be good to get down to some old fashioned fighting. We got a lead saying that one of Sirehart’s pirate captains is disloyal maybe something will come out of that, personally I’m tired of all this talking…

PS. If you hear anything I am running my own trading business with Johann as my partner, if you say otherwise I will be in serious trouble with Delberz County! Reinforce this when you send Calemdor again he will no doubt question you about it.

Yours Sincerely,

Lieutenant Nigel Von Lancaster, 14th Middenheim Cavalry

Dear Father

New vocations to add to my list, sailor, pirate and marine. The pirates at Esterstein had been defeated by a small band of beastmen, my fellows were a bit worried but I talked some sense into them and we defeated the vile creatures. Johann took quite a battering during the process and Forrester was only marginally better, these men are nowhere near the ability of Dorf or Tyrel and I should endeavour to take more care with my battles from now on. The Beastmen were in the process of sacrificing the pirates to the blood god, Forrester was particularly troubled by the mark of Khorne but I told him to stand fast, fear is the first step on the journey to madness.

Upon returning to or ship we were accosted by Captain Wilde and her cronies, the bitch killed the captain and shot our fellow saviour, worse still Johann negotiated that we join their crew! Preposterous! A Von Lancaster a Pirate! Imagine the thought but I went along anyway.

We encountered Sirehart several days down river and won a hard fought boarding action, Sirehart and Wilde were killed in the process, good riddance to bad rubbish in my opinion. We collected our bounty and we will be continuing to Altdorf shortly. Almost one month ago I left Middenheim with a different group of people and a different outlook on my surroundings, truly it is amazing how life can change at the whim of the powers that be…

Yours sincerely,

Lieutenant Nigel Von Lancaster, 14th Middenheim Cavalry
